Felix Auger-Aliassime made his ATP Tour debut in 2018 in Rotterdam. Two years later the tables are turned and the Canadian reached the semifinals at the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament. He proved too strong for Aljaz Bedene: 6-4 7-6.
"It was a tough match. I was in control, but he fought back. You have to accept that and move on. The tiebreaker was tough, but I played really well in the important moments.”
Auger-Aliassime, 19, is one of the youngest players in the Top 100. Many tennis insiders believe he has what it takes to win Grand Slam tournaments in the future. At this point he is still looking for his first ATP title after losing three finals in 2019.
"I have to keep improving in every aspect of my game. There’s a long way to go to the top.”
Next up for the teenager is Pablo Carreno Busta, who survived match points against Jannik Sinner, another rising start on the ATP Tour.
