Pablo Carreno Busta was the first player to reach the 2020 ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament semifinals. The Spaniard won a thrilling match against teenage wildcard Jannik Sinner: 7-5 3-6 7-6(6).
It wasn’t the first time this week Carreno Busta went the distance. This time around he needed two hours and 44 minutes to get it done. "What an unbelievable match. It could have gone either way and had to fight until the very end. My compliments to Sinner, who is very young and needed a wild card now, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he comes back as a seeded player in the future. He is a fantastic player, but I was strong mentally and kept calm in important moments.”
The 28-year old Carreno Busta, who is No.30 in the ATP Rankings, takes on rising star Felix Auger-Aliassime in the semifinals Saturday afternoon 3pm.
