Gilles Simon is the most famous player in the qulaifying tournament of the 46th ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament. The 34 years old French player didn't enter the main draw and is now forced to play qualifiers. The former number 6 in the world, who reached the semifinals in Rotterdam on three occasions, has a good start of his run in Rotterdam, getting a bye in the first round.
The qualifying tournament is traditionally strong. The eight seeded players are all within the top-85 of the ATP Rankings. Three Dutch players enter with a wildcard. Ryan Nijboer, Scott Griekspoor and Jelle Sels are facing stromg opponents in their homecountry.
